Collier County detectives have launched an investigation after human bones were found by a crew digging an irrigation trench on the 6000 block of Daniels Road.
Just before 10 a.m. Thursday, the crew discovered a shallow grave containing several bones.
According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, the medical examiner confirmed the bones are human. CCSO's Crime Scene Investigations personnel and Florida Gulf Coast University's Human Forensic Team have been processing the scene.
CCSO said this is an active investigation, and updates will be shared as they become available.
