Police have confirmed the body of a woman found in Charlotte County on Friday is that of a missing Cape Coral woman.
Cape Coral Police previously announced on Friday, they were actively investigating a missing person case involving Brenda Corbin and working in conjunction with the sheriff's office. She was last seen on May 19 and reported missing on May 20.
"My mind is racing. I'm sorry. It's a long. I never thought that, you know, this would be the way that I long. And I just really wanted to see her," said Heather Bliss, Corbin's daughter.
For days, Corbin’s family has waited for answers...
"But I don't believe that my mom got there on her own," said Bliss.
Her daughter, Heather Bliss, spoke to Gulf Coast News from Mississippi after Cape Coral Police confirmed her body was found by FWC along a private farm road, next to Bermont Road in Charlotte County, five days later.
The medical examiner will determine her cause of death, while police piece together how she ended up nearly 30 miles away.
"I guess, I have all the questions, probably all the same questions. Everybody else is kind of be curious about how did she get there, you know, what happened to it, why?" asked Bliss.
"I mean, my mom was a really good mom when I was growing up. She was very, very loving. She definitely loved me and my brother very much. She was diagnosed with dementia, so that's definitely been a really big struggle for several years now," said Bliss.
Corbin was last seen walking on May 19 near Southeast 18th Avenue in Cape Coral, before her body was found in Charlotte County.
Neighbors said she was staying at a home here for a short period of time.
"It was like eight to nine patrol cars up and down the street, and then a big van pulled up in the warrant squad. I guess it was a SWAT team, and it came into the house and everything," said neighbor William Hull.
"She was in the hospital, and a friend that has guardianship over her, some person that she was recently staying with her at the hospital. They said that they weren't taking care of her, right, I guess so. She said she was trying to find a better facility to put her in. So she's only been there for, like, a couple of weeks," said Bliss.
