The City of Clewiston announced that Director of Operations Jorge Soto, 45, is no longer employed following his arrest for inappropriately communicating with a child.
According to the Hendry County Sheriff's Office website, Soto was booked into jail on May 21 with a $5,000 bond. HCSO's site said he is out on bond at this time.
He is facing a charge of obscene communication: use of a computer to seduce, solicit, or lure a child.
A news release from City Manager Danny Williams was posted to the city's website:
"The City of Clewiston is aware of the recent arrest involving Mr. Jorge E. Soto, III. We understand that this situation has understandably raised questions and concerns within our community.
Mr. Soto, III, is no longer employed by the City of Clewiston.
Given the ongoing legal proceedings, and out of respect for all parties involved, the City will not be providing further comments. We ask that our community keep everyone involved in their thoughts and prayers as the judicial process moves forward.
