Lee County is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday morning for the unveiling of the brand new addition to the Lee County Public Safety Center.
The emergency center sits along Ortiz Avenue, right in between Colonial Boulevard and State Road 82.
The $38.5 million two-story facility is 36,873 square feet.
It will serve as an emergency hub for emergency services like EMS, 911 communications and traffic operations.
During hurricanes, this is the hub where all major decisions are made, as local leaders work together here.
The new facility is equipped with accommodations for personnel like technology, restrooms, showers and sleeping accommodations to stay prepared in the event of a crisis
Thursday's ribbon-cutting ceremony is at 10 a.m.
