A Cape Coral man was arraigned in federal court on Thursday, and indicted for making threats to kill President Donald Trump.
Christopher Davies, 31, is accused of writing and delivering a letter on March 10 threatening "in substance" to kill Trump to an official at the Charlotte Correctional Institute, according to the indictment.
Davies has been charged with making threats against the president of the United States, and he pleaded not guilty. If Davies is convicted, he would face a maximum of five years in federal prison.
The judge granted the federal government's motion for detention until trial and appointed a public defender. The next hearing is a status conference scheduled for June 17.
