The Florida Department of Transportation wants residents to take a survey for proposed improvements to Pine Island Road (SR 78) from Veterans Parkway to the west of U.S. 41.
The study will evaluate the widening of SR 78 from four to six lanes, safety improvements and accommodations for multiple modes of transportation.
FDOT says the primary objectives of the study are providing more capacity for the road, enhancing traffic safety and emergency evacuation capabilities, accommodating population and employment growth and increased freight activity.
