It's your last chance to let the city of Cape Coral know your thoughts on its housing and development plans.
The city created a survey that you can fill out until Sunday. It's looking for your thoughts as more people move in, with more than 233,000 people living in Cape Coral.
As of 2024, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, it's the eighth-largest city in the entire state of Florida.
Mark Magyar, who lives in Cape Coral, has noticed.
"We're getting to a point where we're overrun with people, and when you're in season, it worse because then there's constantly traffic," he said.
By filling out this survey, you can shape the future of your neighborhood.
"We have enough apartment buildings," said Cape Coral resident Wayne Brosseau. "I just think that they would stop developing that, not condominiums, probably single-family residential duplexes, but that's about it."
You can rank the options provided from high priority to no need for funding.
The survey has options such as homeownership assistance, as well as assistance for home improvements from the minor, like paint, to the major, like electrical work. It also lists senior services, legal services, youth services, food assistance and employment training.
Cape Coral Council member Jennifer Nelson-Lastra said it is also an opportunity for young people to voice what the city needs for the future.
"I think that if you, you're going to have more people, young people, I don't know how they're going to be able to pay for $1,500 and $2,000 a month [apartments], and these are small," Magyar said.
The city gets $1.3 million from federal programs. The city said your input will impact how it allocates funds.
"I would hope that they did plan, because everything else they seem to do in this city, they don't plan for," Brosseau said.
