St. John Neumann High School alumn and NC State freshman Ryder Woodson picked a big stage for his first collegiate home runs, launching not one but three—including a dramatic go-ahead grand slam at the Auburn Regional of the NCAA Tournament.
After going homerless in 20 regular-season games, Woodson exploded for three home runs in the regional, with his clutch grand slam highlighting a 10-run eighth inning that sealed the Wolfpack’s 17-12 comeback win over Stetson. He finished the game with five RBIs and three hits, raising his tournament batting average to .419.
