A Cape Coral man has been arrested on multiple charges, including aggravated battery with a weapon, following a violent altercation Friday.
According to the Cape Coral Police Department, officers responded to a disturbance call at a home in southwest Cape Coral around 8 p.m.
Officers arrived at the scene and made contact with the reporting party, who had visible injuries and reported being physically battered and cut with a knife.
The suspect, who was identified as Robert Poit, 58, refused to come out of the residence, which was solely owned by the reporting party, according to the CCPD.
Officers later secured the scene and removed the reporting party from the area.
The reporting party gave the officers permission to enter and search the home after Poit refused to leave the residence, according to police.
A Special Weapons and Tactics team entered the residence and made contact with Poit in one of the bedrooms.
Officers said Poit was noncompliant and made attempts to advance toward them before a K-9 was brought in. He was eventually transported to the hospital for medical clearance.
While in the hospital, officers said Poit repeatedly made threats, saying, “I’ll walk right to the Cape Coral Police Department, and when you come out, I’ll put a bullet in your face myself.”
Poit was medically cleared and taken to the Lee County Jail.
He faces charges of battery, aggravated battery with a weapon, resisting officers with violence and threat of harm to a public servant.
