Three people have been saved after a plane crashed into the water at Vero Beach on Sunday night.
The Indian River County Sheriff's Office was alerted that a single-engine aircraft had crashed in the Atlantic Ocean about 4 miles east of Vero Beach Airport.
Multiple agencies aided in the rescue, including marine units from the Indian River County Sheriff's Office, the Indian River Shores Public Safety Department, Vero Beach Police Department, the U.S. Coast Guard and two helicopters.
Once the Indian River County Sheriff's Office helicopter found three individuals in the water, rescue vessels were sent to their location. A rescue swimmer was deployed to help the survivors.
All three rescued people were transported to the U.S. Coast Guard station in Fort Pierce.
