On Tuesday, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners lifted the burn ban enacted in February in the county.
Collier County Emergency Management, the Florida Forest Service and the Collier County Fire Chiefs' Association conducted a review that led to the decision to lift the ban, according to the county.
That group also recognized and identified the need for a burn ban to be issued earlier this year due to environmental conditions, including a lack of rain in Collier County.
Dan Summers, the director of Collier County Emergency Management, said that the county will continue urging its residents to be safe when conducting outdoor burning activities to reduce wildfire risks.
