A 35-year-old man from Fort Myers has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl through the mail.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida, Duran Dijuon Demetiu Colbert conspired with his co-defendant to distribute various controlled substances.
Co-defendant Esdras De La Rosa, 28, who lived in the Los Angeles area, supplied Colbert with the drugs. The substances were sent by De La Rosa to Colbert via U.S. mail or other package carriers.
Court documents state that the Lee County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Colbert’s Florida residence on Nov. 17, 2023. During the search, authorities found approximately 1,700 fentanyl pills in his possession. Investigators determined the pills had been sent by De La Rosa.
De La Rosa had previously pleaded guilty to his role in the case and was sentenced to nine years in federal prison on April 16.
Colbert pleaded guilty on Sept. 18, 2024, to charges of distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, and attempted possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
