President Trump visits Alligator Alcatraz in Collier County, Tuesday

OCHOPEE, Fla. — President Donald Trump is scheduled to arrive in Ochopee by 10 a.m. on Tuesday to tour Florida’s newest migrant detention facility — dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz.”

Our team has been stationed outside of the center all morning to show you what kind of support and dissent the facility is gaining.

The president is scheduled to tour the facility and then hold a roundtable with local leaders around 11 a.m.

The Everglades Jetport, proposed in the 1960s, was intended to be the largest airport in the world — about five times the size of New York’s JFK. The project was halted in the 1970s due to environmental and logistical concerns, and only one airstrip was ever constructed, which still stands today.
