A motorcyclist is recovering after a Florida Highway Patrol car chase.

On Thursday at approximately 10:45 p.m., a Florida Highway Patrol car, a Dodge Charger, attempted to stop a motorcycle on northbound Interstate 75, near State Road 80 (Palm Beach Boulevard).

FHP says that the motorcyclist, a 21-year-old male from Fort Myers, failed to stop and fled.

The motorcyclist exited onto Exit 141 (State Road 80) and attempted to flee east.

In doing so, the motorcycle entered the center median and collided with a tree.

The collision caused the driver to become separated from the motorcycle and sustain injuries.

Post collision, the motorcycle was redirected onto eastbound State Road 80.

The FHP Dodge Charger had collided with the motorcycle, but the trooper was not injured. The motorcyclist sustained injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
