Ave Maria neighbors are no strangers to the heat, but this weekend is expected to be one of the hottest this year. The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for Glades, Hendry, and Collier counties, with "feels like" temperatures nearing 110 degrees.

A roadside worker, Angel Cruz, shared his experience with the intense heat.

"It's just been very hot. It's just very stressful," said Cruz.

Cruz emphasized the importance of being prepared for the extreme temperatures.

"Make sure to wear this hat. Remember to have long sleeves, drink plenty of water," Cruz said.

Cruz's supervisor, Billy Gonzalez, keeps a vigilant watch over his team to ensure they stay hydrated.

"I'm constantly on top of them. Water, get a Gatorade, you know, hydrate yourself," said Gonzalez.

The heat is overwhelming for some residents, like Jody Rosen, who moved to Ave Maria from New York three years ago.

"It's a culture shock. It's super-hot," said Rosen.

Rosen plans to escape the heat by enjoying time at the pool.

"Going back to enjoy the pool," Rosen said.

With the heat expected to persist throughout the weekend, residents should stay cool indoors or dip in the pool to beat the heat.
