According to detectives, surveillance footage showed the suspects, identified as Johnny Aaron Ward Jr., 29, and Jose Manuel Copland Jr., 28, arriving in a silver Nissan Rogue Sport and engaging in the altercation that led to the shooting.

Sheriff Carmine Marceno praised the Violent Crimes Unit for their efforts. "I am incredibly proud of the Violent Crimes Unit's hard work that led to the arrest of these violent criminals," said Marceno. "With help from the Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, our analysts, and the Fugitive Warrant Unit, my detectives were able to identify and locate the suspects involved quickly."

The Fugitive Warrants Unit located and arrested both suspects.

"I always stress — see it, say it, make the call. The tips we received regarding this incident were crucial to bringing justice to the victim," said Marceno.

Ward faces charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Copland was charged with accessory after the fact and battery.
