Job seekers in Lehigh Acres turned to the Goodwill Resource Center to find assistance in their employment search.
However, for Lazaro Orlandi Verda Fernandez, the process has been challenging.
"They are very scarce, unstable," said Fernandez. "The majority of people have small businesses. They are not big companies. Like, this week you'll have two jobs and the next week you'll have three. There's no stability."
Fernandez and others attended a workshop to learn essential skills such as resume writing, dressing for success, and job hunting strategies.
"With the interview, it's not just being ready to talk about your skills and your experience, but also understanding things like, don't use your phone and don't bring friends or family to your interview with you," said Angela Hemstreet, director of employment services at Goodwill.
Hemstreet explained that many job seekers simply need guidance.
"Or understanding how they can move from entry level to something that's a little bit more of a career advancement," said Hemstreet. "Think those would be things that would maybe they just don't know without the help of a coordinator."
Fernandez expressed the importance of these workshops.
"So do you think finding a job here is hard? It's more than hard," said Fernandez. "I wish they had bigger companies here so that they could have more jobs. Things like that that could help the town so people don't have to travel one or two hours."
The workshop takes place every Wednesday, is open to everyone and
