Fort Myers Beach is gearing up for a weekend filled with fun and mullets at the Current Riders Surf Shop. The event promises grimey mullets, flying mullets, and lots of entertainment.
Brian Rich, owner of Current Riders Surf Shop, shared his excitement about the event.
"Everybody knows mullet the fish, but it's mullet the haircut, and so we wanted to just have fun, so everybody can dress up and, you know, get together," said Rich.
Rich explained that the mullet toss is a fantastic way to engage with customers during the off-season.
"We're a new business, and it's great because we have a lot of people who have never been to our store before, people we haven't met people who know it kind of socially, so it's been great for us," said Rich.

Saturday's activities include the mullet tossing and a Joe Dirt look-alike contest. Bill Narber, owner of Diva's-N-doll's, will be judging the contest.
"Just be creative. You gotta come in here looking like Joe Dirt, and you gotta represent and if you could talk like him, which I can't, that would be even better," said Narber.
Narber appreciates the community spirit the event brings to the island.
"The alliance is bringing everybody together, and it's a great cause. It's bringing people to the beach in our slower season... The minute you cross that bridge, you're in another world," said Narber.
LeeAnn Golson from Paradise Vacation Rentals highlighted the fun aspect of the event.
"It's great because we get to have fun while we're making money. I mean, you can't beat that," said Golson.
