The Collier County School District is addressing its busing situation this year, with local districts having more control over school start and end times following the repeal of the state's mandated later start times law.
School Board Chair Kelly Mason previously spoke to WINK News about the challenges posed by earlier school times.
"When you're talking about over 50,000 students, that many take the bus, this would cause our elementary students to be sitting out at bus stops in the dark," said Mason.
She also highlighted the broader impacts on high school students.
"We have many high school kids that work after school that do help support their families as well. This would affect their jobs. It affects athletics. It's a big logistical nightmare in a sense," said Mason.
WINK News will cover the transportation meeting this morning at 9 a.m.
