Lee County Parks & Recreation announced the ongoing replacement of splash pads at Lakes Regional Park in Fort Myers, following damage from Hurricane Ian.
The park, located at 7330 Gladiolus Drive, will see temporary path closures as construction progresses.
A temporary fence will be installed on Monday, with demolition of the hurricane-damaged splash pads set for Wednesday.
Patrons are urged to heed staff instructions and posted signs for safety.
The $2.6 million project, funded by the Florida Division of Emergency Management Legislative Appropriations Program Fund, will include demolition, removal of damaged equipment and construction of new splash pads.
Gulfpoint Construction Company Inc. will handle the project, which will include new concrete pads, plumbing, electrical components, shade structures and more.
Construction is expected to conclude by summer 2026, weather permitting.
In the meantime, visitors can go to the splash pad at Veterans Park, 55 Homestead Road South, Lehigh Acres, open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., weather permitting.
Lee County Parks & Recreation also operates four community pools in the area.
