Gov. Ron DeSantis held a news conference in Tampa, where he announced the progress on Tampa Bay transportation projects.
During the news conference Tuesday morning, DeSantis talked about roads in Florida and the importance of addressing congestion and safety.

He announced that the Howard Frankland Bridge in Tampa will be increased by 50% capacity and the project will strengthen hurricane routes and improve the safe and efficient movement of people and goods across Tampa Bay.
"The Howard Frankland Bridge is the largest infrastructure project ever delivered in the Tampa Bay area," DeSantis said.
It's a near $1 billion investment and will tie directly to other key projects, including the Gateway Expressway project and I-2 75 express lanes.
