Lely High School's football team aimed to reclaim the coveted coconut trophy after a 15-year wait.
Quarterback Brady Quinn launched a deep pass on a fourth and one play, connecting with Ty Collins at the one-yard line. Nino Joseph then ran it in, giving Lely the first score on their opening drive.
Quinn targeted the end zone again on the next drive, finding Jayden Pino for another touchdown, putting Lely up 12-0 in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Golden Eagles faced a critical third down. Alijah Molina threw a pass over the middle, which Luca Rama caught for a first and goal for Naples.
Jamar Jerome then ran left into the end zone, putting Naples on the board with the score at 12-7 in favor of Lely with five minutes left in the half.
With just 30 seconds remaining in the half, Joseph scored again, increasing the Trojans' lead to 18-7.
However, right before halftime, Naples found themselves at second and 22. Jerome took it up the middle and scored again, closing the gap to make it a one-score game before the break.
