One 27-year-old woman has died, along with three others seriously injured, after a hit-and-run crash in Lehigh Acres.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers investigated the crash on Wednesday night on Douglas Lane near Harold Avenue.
The vehicle involved collided with three adult pedestrians and one child pedestrian. The group was walking to a grocery store.
Teresa Monroe has been identified by family members as the woman who succumbed to her injuries.
Just hours before the crash, one man tells WINK News, Monroe, her son, and her friends enjoyed a Thanksgiving meal.
Cousins of Monroe visited the crash site Friday afternoon in tears.
Monroe's two-year-old son was airlifted to Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg.
Family members tell WINK News he has multiple injuries, including a broken foot. He has had aleast three cat scans in the ICU and family members say he is in stable condition.
Another 27-year-old woman, as well as a 31-year-old man, were injured and hospitalized following the crash.
The condition of the two adults also hurt in the crash are unknown at this time.
After the collision, the driver ran away. Troopers later located and arrested 42-year-old Garry Joseph at his residence.
Joseph is charged with DUI Manslaughter, leaving the scene with death, and leaving the scene with serious injury x 3.
Troopers say he was traveling at a "high rate of speed."
Records show Joseph has been previously arrested three times for DUI. He also has an open case for speeding in August and was ordered to take traffic school courses.
FHP says Joseph had a valid license.
Several on Friday told WINK News that Douglas Lane is a dangerous road, with many speeders and not enough street lights.
