Man dead after getting hit by car on Highway 72, SW Thigpen Ave. in DeSoto County

A 66-year-old man is dead after getting hit by a car on State Road 72, east of NW Thigpen Avenue.

The crash involved the man and a vehicle.

The incident happened when a sedan, traveling east, collided with a stationary semi-truck, and the man, who was the driver of the semi-truck.

The man was attaching a chain to the trailer of the truck when the collision occurred. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
