Baker Senior Center Naples mourns founder's passing, legacy lives on

The community in Collier County is mourning the loss of Dr. Jaclynn Faffer, the founder of Baker Senior Center Naples, who passed away recently. Her impact on the community and legacy of service to seniors remain strong.

"Dr. Faffer was the face of the senior center," said Bobbie Schuster, a volunteer at Baker Senior Center in Naples.

Dr. Faffer, who served as the CEO and founder of the center, provided services to thousands of seniors in Collier County. The center announced her passing on Monday.

"It is a feeling of disbelief," said Schuster.

Schuster volunteers by teaching ukulele to seniors at the center.

"With our ukulele group, it has been just such a joy and thrill," said Schuster. "Dr. Faffer was always so supportive. There are a few people I know that had her clear vision and sense of purpose."

Former Collier County Commissioner Penny Taylor, who worked with Dr. Faffer at the center, praised her ability to care for others.

"Jackie was this quiet but determined woman who understood how to get things done," said Taylor. "Baker Senior Center is an example of that."

Dr. Faffer's spirit continues to resonate throughout the center.

"She's got such a strong team there, and everyone sharing in her passion - that her legacy is set," said Schuster.

The Baker Senior Center Naples announced in a press release that they are working to fill Dr. Jaclynn Faffer's position.
