Fort Myers Beach Councilmember Jim Atterholt announces retirement

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. —

Fort Myers Beach Councilmember Jim Atterholt has announced his retirement from the Town Council at the end of the year. He's served almost six years as a councilmember.

In an announcement, Atterholt said that he wants to spend more time with his family.

"Atterholt served during one of the most consequential periods in Fort Myers Beach’s recent history. His tenure included navigating the Town through the COVID-19 pandemic and multiple major storm events, including Hurricane Ian," the town of Fort Myers Beach said in a press release.

Fort Myers Beach Mayor Dan Allers said that it was a privilege to work with Atterholt.

“His service to this community has been exceptional, and while he will be deeply missed on the Town Council, I am grateful to call him both a colleague and a friend," Allers said. "On behalf of the Town of Fort Myers Beach, I thank Jim for his dedicated service and wish him and his family continued success in the next chapter.”
