Grants from Collier Community Foundation Fuel Meals of Hope

Meals of Hope received two significant grants totaling $155,000 from the Collier Community Foundation to aid families facing food insecurity in Collier County.

A $55,000 program grant will support Meals of Hope’s Immokalee mobile and choice food pantries, which serve up to 700 families weekly across various locations in Immokalee. These pantries provide essential food items to families struggling with high living costs.

"Young children in rural Immokalee remain especially vulnerable to food insecurity," said Steve Popper, founder and CEO of Meals of Hope. "This support from the Collier Community Foundation allows us to continue offering the healthy, consistent food assistance families rely on each week."

The second grant, a $100,000 award, will launch the Wheels of Hope Choice Pantry, a mobile pantry that offers a grocery-style shopping experience to underserved neighborhoods. This vehicle will operate three days per week, serving an estimated 240 additional families weekly.

"The Wheels of Hope Choice Pantry will allow us to meet families where they are, reduce barriers to access, and offer a full selection of healthy foods in a dignified, choice-based setting," Popper said.

These grants enhance Meals of Hope’s commitment to providing accessible pantry programs that improve health outcomes and help families focus on other critical expenses like rent and childcare.

Meals of Hope served more than 70,000 people through its mobile and choice pantries last year and anticipates similar demand through 2026. The Collier Community Foundation awards grants through a competitive process, supporting organizations that address community needs.
