Port Charlotte family celebrates Christmas miracle after fire

PORT CHARLOTTE - After a terrifying house fire and a long hospital stay, Nikki Bostic is finally home for the holidays.

Last month, Nikki Bostic was rushed to the hospital in critical condition following a fire at her Port Charlotte home. She was placed in a medically induced coma, and her family feared for her life. Now, they are calling her recovery "a miracle."

Sue Bostic, Nikki's mother-in-law, shared her initial reluctance to celebrate the holidays.

"I didn't even want to have a Christmas this year," said Sue Bostic.

However, the family's living room tells a different story now.

"I'll tell you what, after a miracle... we're having Christmas," added Sue Bostic.

In an exclusive interview with WINK News reporter Maddie Herron, Nikki Bostic expressed the significance of being home for the holidays.

"To her, one of the best presents would be me being home by Christmas. And I just said, 'okay', and I made it happen," said Nikki Bostic.

Nikki spent one and a half months recovering in the hospital from the accidental house fire.

"There is just an intense amount of emotions," said Nikki Bostic. "The things I felt while they were working on me, and just how I felt in the hospital."

Doctors informed Nikki that they might have to amputate some of her toes due to the severity of her injuries. Despite the pain and trauma, she remains hopeful.

"The biggest emotion I feel is hope that I'm going to do it, I'm going to heal, I'm going to get better," said Nikki Bostic. "I got a long road ahead of me, but I also know that the only person that can walk that road is me."

Nikki's recovery journey is supported by her husband Roy, her in-laws, and her beloved bunny, Artie, who also survived the fire. The reunion with her furry friend was a heartfelt moment.

"We survived, you and me, bud, we made it," Nikki Bostic told Artie.

As Nikki moves forward in her health journey and into the new year, she expressed gratitude to everyone who sent prayers during her hospital stay.

Now, she gets to spend Christmas surrounded by loved ones at a family member's home, with Artie by her side.
