Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation lays 9K pounds of oysters to restore reefs

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation placed approximately 9,000 pounds of oysters to preserve and restore reefs.

The SCCF says that fossilized and used restaurant shells were collected and relocated to rebuild reefs.

It says that oyster reefs filter water, protect shorelines and create vital habitat for marine life.
