St. Matthew's House to open public emergency shelters as cold front hits Southwest Florida

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. —

In response to a cold front approaching Southwest Florida, St. Matthew's House is opening its emergency shelters starting Tuesday night.

The cold front, which will hit Southwest Florida Monday night, will bring the coldest temperatures of the season to the Gulf Coast.

St. Matthew's House is opening its emergency shelters to the public starting Tuesday night and continuing through Friday night.

St. Matthew's House said it always opens its emergency shelters when the low temperatures drop to 55 degrees or colder.

The shelters are located at the Campbell Lodge at 2001 Airport Road S. in Naples and at the Immokalee Friendship Lodge at 602 W. Main St. in Immokalee. Check-in begins at 8 p.m. each night.

St. Matthew's House said it will provide beds, pillows, blankets, snacks and coffee, and that the environment will be safe and secure. Guests will be required to take a breathalyzer test, according to St. Matthew's House.

St. Matthew's House is seeking donations of pillows, blankets, coats, gloves and socks.
