Florida man accused of sexual activity with child, smoking with 2 kids on New Year's Eve

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. —

A Charlotte County man was arrested after he was accused of luring two children to his home, smoking with them and engaging in sexual activity with one of them on New Year's Eve.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, James Scheuerell, 18, told deputies in an interview that he engaged in sexual acts with one of them.

Scheuerell is facing charges of lewd and lascivious battery of a victim 12 to 16 years old, traveling to meet a minor with a device with electronic data or transmission, possession of controlled substance without prescription, possession or use of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of contributing to delinquency by act causing child to be needy, according to the sheriff's office.
