Man arrested after gunfire broke out near graduation party in Lehigh Acres

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. —

The Lee County Sheriff's Office arrested a man after gunfire broke out near a party in Lehigh Acres.

Investigators say the shooting happened along Jackson Avenue. Deputies arrested Lamarion Jackson on Monday night, nearly a week after shots were fired near a graduation party along Jackson Avenue.

On Dec. 28, deputies responded to the area of Jackson Avenue in reference to a shooting.

Neighbors told Gulf Coast News they heard three loud bangs the night of the shooting.

"I woke up the next morning, and I found the caution tape was close to my house. Then, the police were gradually moving the caution tape closer, and I guess shrinking the crime scene," said neighbor Ronald Bach.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they did a traffic stop and learned Jackson was involved in the shooting.

After an investigation, deputies say Jackson wore a ski mask, went up to a vehicle, and started to shoot at it with a rifle later found. Deputies say Jackson accidentally shot himself in the foot.

Detectives found a backpack containing the gun used in the shooting, along with a magazine and ammunition.

LCSO said Jackson is an adjudicated delinquent and cannot legally own a gun. He is also on state probation for robbery by sudden snatching.

Lamarion Jackson is facing the following charges: one count of violation possession of a short-barreled rifle, one count of violation possession of a firearm, one count of violation possession of an altered firearm, and one count of resisting without violence.
