Sidewalks to be added along Andalusia and Skyline boulevards in Cape Coral

CAPE CORAL, Fla. —

Cape Coral city officials are expected to approve a contract Wednesday to add sidewalks to both sides of Andalusia Boulevard and the west side of Skyline Boulevard, aiming to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.

The contract, which will cost up to $378,000, will be funded by a state transportation grant, not local tax dollars. The state has already signed off on the project before the city moves forward.

Officials said this project is all about making these streets safer for those who live and work in the area. Once the project begins, it will take 11 months to complete.

Wednesday's council meeting begins at 4 p.m. at the city council chambers.
