Suspect forced through wall, tied up worker in Cape Coral jewelry store robbery

CAPE CORAL, Fla. —

A frightening new detail in a Cape Coral jewelry store robbery: someone was tied up inside, and police still haven’t said if they know who’s responsible.

The owner of Tio Jewelers says the victim was working at the store Tuesday morning, and told Gulf Coast News they are doing okay now.

The Cape Coral Police Department confirmed Wednesday they are investigating the case at the plaza off Pine Island Road as an armed robbery. They said multiple agencies are now involved in the investigation.

So far, though, police haven’t released a suspect description, any surveillance images, or confirmed whether they know who was behind the heist.

Construction crews spent Wednesday repairing a hole inside the women's bathroom of the vacant business next door to Tio Jewelers. According to state records, the space used to Jumbo Bucks Arcade, but the business closed in October 2025.

“It does look like something out of Ocean’s 11,” said Dominic Cordisco, who owns a pharmacy across the back alley. “It seems pretty elaborate. They definitely had to of scoped that unit out to know that they had a shared wall there.”

Megan Panagopoulos works at the pet store next to the plaza and says she’s uneasy knowing there’s no arrest.

“My daughter goes to dance class next door five nights a week,” she said. “ So that’s kind of scary, especially not knowing who did this.”

Cape Coral police say the investigation is active and moving quickly, but haven’t confirmed any arrests or suspect leads as of Wednesday afternoon.

Tio Jewelers has a sign on the door that reads "Closed until further notice," but the owner says they will reopen the business once things settle down and increased safety measures are in place.
