Woman accused of hit-and-run with rental car in Lee County

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

A woman was arrested after being accused of a hit-and-run crash on Wednesday night.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at around 5:39 p.m., a hit-and-run crash occurred in the northbound lanes of I-75 near mile marker 130 in Lee County.

FHP said a woman, identified as Kimberly Seawell, 32, was driving a gray Hyundai Santa Fe, which she was renting. FHP said Seawell veered into the next lane, where a gray GMC Arcadia was, and that the left side of the Santa Fe hit the Arcadia, resulting in minor damage.

Seawell then left the scene, according to FHP.

After conducting an investigation, troopers arrested Seawell and found that she had tampered with evidence, as she had wiped down the car after the crash, FHP said.

Seawell faces charges of hit-and-run and obstructing justice.
