Man accused of violating terms of release following Christmas Eve DUI arrest in Lee County

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

A man is accused of violating the terms of his pre-trial release following an arrest for DUI on Christmas Eve.

According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, Reese McGhee, 52, was arrested shortly before midnight on Christmas Eve after deputies say he drove recklessly, lost control, and flipped his vehicle before hitting a mailbox.

Witnesses said McGhee attempted to run from the scene, but one of the witnesses detained him until deputies arrived, Crime Stoppers said.

When questioned about the crash, deputies noticed McGhee showed signs of impairment and that he appeared too drunk to even stand up, Crime Stoppers said.

Deputies also discovered McGhee was driving with a suspended license, as it had been suspended three prior times for DUI charges.

McGhee faces multiple charges, including DUI, DUI property damage, and hit-and-run.

McGhee is wanted by authorities after violating the terms of his pre-trial release, according to Crime Stoppers.

McGhee has 24 previous arrests and is known to use the alias of Don Juan McGhee.
