Candlelight vigil takes place at Collier County Courthouse for ICE shooting in Minneapolis

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. —

Demonstrators gathered at the Collier County Courthouse to demand change in United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement practices at a candlelight vigil following the fatal shooting of Renee Good by ICE officer Johnathan Ross in Minneapolis.

"I'm here because I used to live in Minnesota. I moved down here. I have had a very, very hard time with politics in Florida," said Kathryn Williams at the courthouse.

The impact of the incident has reached the Gulf Coast, where people felt it was important to express their concerns.

"I'm embarrassed at this. The whole set of affairs that have been happening. I'm sickened that a woman died. I'm sickened that two people were shot. I'm sickened that we have people in our alligator Alcatraz," Williams said.

People traveled from Fort Myers and Naples to join the demonstration, sharing a unified message.

"I think Florida as a whole appears to the rest of the country to be very pro-ICE. I don't think Florida as a whole is pro-hurting people, or scooping them off the street, or not giving them due process. We're here, we got to speak out against it and tell people that's not the right thing to do," said Wendy Denny.
