Super speeder arrested after high-speed chase on SR 82

FORT MYERS, Fla. —

Overnight, the Florida Highway Patrol says they attempted to stop a driver speeding over 100 mph on SR 82. It resulted in a high-speed chase and arrest.

Troopers say the vehicle took off from the attempted traffic stop, prompting a pursuit.

FHP successfully stopped the vehicle using a PIT maneuver, but troopers say the driver ran off.

Troopers later arrested the individual.

The driver faces several charges, including aggravated fleeing to elude, five counts of reckless driving with property damage, five counts of DUI property damage, resisting without violence, driving without a license, and being classified as a super speeder.
