Charlotte County Public Schools celebrates highest graduation rate in history

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. –Charlotte County Public Schools achieved a 91.6% graduation rate for the 2024-2025 school year. That’s up 4.6% over the previous school year. 

The district attributes the high graduation rate to its focus on students’ success and ensuring they have a plan for their futures after high school.

District leaders emphasize that graduation is a milestone, not the end goal. The district remains focused on preparing every student for life after high school, whether that be enrollment, employment, or enlistment. 

“A diploma is important, but it is only part of the story,” Superintendent Mark Vianello said. “Our Portrait of a Graduate ensures every student leaves with a plan, a clear direction, and an understanding of the opportunities ahead.”

To support this work, the district continues to prioritize career and academic planning through tools such as the Charlotte County Public Schools Career Planning Guide, which helps students and families explore postsecondary options, including career pathways and the steps needed to achieve their goals.

Throughout the school year, students receive guidance and support from teachers, counselors, and staff to help them stay on track for graduation while also building a meaningful plan for the future. This includes access to advanced academic coursework, dual enrollment opportunities, career and technical education programs, industry certifications, and individualized academic advising.

School Board Chair John LeClair said the graduation rate reflects both strong academic outcomes and a focus on long-term student success. “We are proud of this achievement, but even more proud of the work happening every day in our schools to help students prepare for what comes next,” LeClair said. “Our goal is not just to see students earn a diploma, but to see them leave our schools ready for their next step."
