Fort Myers man arrested after alleged road rage incident involving gun

FORT MYERS, Fla. —

A Fort Myers man is facing charges after police say he threatened two people with a gun during a road rage incident at a busy intersection in late December.

According to investigators, the incident happened Dec. 27 near Winkler Avenue and Colonial Boulevard. One of the victims told Gulf Coast News that they saw 30-year-old Kevin White nearly run a motorcyclist off the road before pulling out a gun and pointing it at the rider.

The motorcyclist was able to drive away and later contacted the police to report the incident.

The witness said White then followed them toward The Forum shopping area, where he allegedly pulled the gun on them as well. The victim, who did not want to be identified or appear on camera, reported the encounter to authorities with the Fort Myers Police Department.

Fort Myers resident Kathleen Holloway said the allegations are frightening, especially for people who use the roads daily.

"It's just absolutely shocking," Holloway said. "We drive these roads every single day, going to work, and then something like that happens. It’s just absolutely terrifying."

Police say they arrested White Sunday night after receiving a tip that he had been spotted on the road. He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.

The case remains under investigation.
