Lehigh Acres suspect caught throwing bricks at car and home

LEHIGH ACRES - A man in Lehigh Acres was caught throwing bricks at a homeowner and his car on Sunday afternoon.

This incident took place near Craft Street East and Ladle Avenue South and was captured on video.

The homeowner told WINK News that this wasn't the first time it happened, but it was the first time the suspect was caught.

After the bricks were thrown, the homeowner's family chased the suspect, Martin Zavala, into a nearby canal until the Lee County Sheriff's Office arrived.

A neighbor, Olvin, said, "Mr. Gonzales said, 'No, that's not going to be so he chased him down and ended up in the river and kept him there until the police came."

Zavala, 33, was chased by the car owner and two others.

The homeowner mentioned that her car, truck, and home window were all hit on different days, and deputies were called each time.

The victims and a neighbor hope Zavala's arrest will stop the brick throwing on Craft Street.

Olvin added, "It was great that the police came so quickly. They responded really quick, and that was very helpful for them because they're holding them at bay in the water there."

The Lee County Sheriff's Office advises not to approach suspects and to call 911 for help.

Zavala is facing multiple charges.
