Man accused of leading Collier County deputies on 100-plus mph chase in stolen car

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. —

A man was arrested after being accused of leading deputies on a 100-plus mph stolen car chase in Collier County on Monday.

According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, a deputy was patrolling the area of Airport Road North in an attempt to locate a stolen vehicle around 9:45 a.m.

The car had been stolen from a Racetrac on Tamiami Trail East and had last been seen headed southbound on Goodlette-Frank Road. Deputies were able to track the vehicle because the alleged owner of the vehicle was tracking his phone, which was left in the car.

Deputies located the vehicle at a red light at the intersection of Pine Ridge Road and Whippoorwill Lane, the CCSO said.

As the light turned green, the deputy pulled behind the stolen vehicle, which was being driven by Dylan Reynolds, 22, and attempted a traffic stop. Reynolds then accelerated onto the on-ramp for southbound Interstate 75, fleeing from the officer, the CCSO said.

Deputies pursued Reynolds, who was driving at 112 mph along the interstate, weaving in and out of traffic, the CCSO said.

The chase slowed as the cars approached a toll booth, where a Florida Highway Patrol trooper took the lead in the pursuit. As the trooper took over, Reynolds pulled over, stepped out of the car and threw the keys into the grass.

Deputies found that Reynolds was driving with a suspended license. Reynolds was labeled as a habitual traffic offender in August 2023, and his license was revoked for a period of five years.

Reynolds was arrested and faces charges of grand theft auto, fleeing/eluding officers with disregard for the safety of others and operating a vehicle with a revoked driver's license.
