Charlotte County offers new sharps disposal site at Fire Station 9

Charlotte County Public Safety, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Babcock Ranch, has established a sharps drop-off location at Fire Station 9 to promote safe disposal practices.

Proper sharps disposal involves placing used needles, syringes and lancets into a designated, puncture-resistant container. Photos show the recent delivery of that container. This initiative helps prevent accidental injuries, reduces environmental hazards and ensures safe handling.

Residents can drop off sharps at Fire Station 9 seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., providing a closer and more convenient option for safe disposal in the southern part of the county.

CCPS said other sharps disposal locations include:

• Mid-County Mini-Transfer & Recycling Facility

19765 Kenilworth Blvd., Port Charlotte

Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

• West Charlotte Mini-Transfer & Recycling Facility

7070 Environmental Way, Englewood

Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

• Punta Gorda Public Safety Building

1410 Tamiami Trail, Punta Gorda

Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
