Fort Myers man arrested for making six non-emergency 911 calls in 90 minutes

FORT MYERS, Fla. —

A Fort Myers man was arrested on Sunday after being accused of calling 911 six times in the span of an hour and a half.

According to the Fort Myers Police Department, at around 12:30 a.m., an officer responded to a breach of peace call at an apartment complex.

The officer had already responded to the location twice for the same call and had determined that no breach of peace was occurring, according to FMPD.

The caller, identified as Kenneth Edmundson, 59, continued to call and tell officers that there were unknown individuals in the hallway attempting to gain access to his apartment, FMPD said.

The FMPD Communications Division confirmed that Edmundson had placed a total of six calls to 911 within a one-and-a-half-hour period. Edmundson also later called 911 again to apologize to the calltaker.

Edmundson was arrested and faces a charge of misusing 911.
