SWFL shelters open ahead of approaching cold front

FLORIDA, (WINK)—As the cold weather approaches Wednesday night, shelters are opening around Southwest Florida.

St. Matthew’s House is opening its emergency shelters for seven days starting Wednesday due to cold weather in Southwest Florida.

St. Matthew’s House opens its shelters to the public when temperatures drop to 55 degrees or colder.

The shelters are located at Campbell Lodge, 2001 Airport Road South, Naples, and Immokalee Friendship Lodge, 602 West Main Street, Immokalee. People can check in at 8 p.m. on any of those nights.

There is plenty of space available, and St. Matthew’s House will provide beds, pillows, blankets, snacks, and coffee in a safe and secure environment.

Guests will be required to take a breathalyzer test.

St. Matthew’s House is also asking for donations of blankets, pillows, coats, gloves, and socks for guests staying at the shelters.

Look ahead for more shelters reopening. Once they are confirmed, they will be added to this article.

Hendry County 

The Hendry County Emergency Management, along with the Clewiston Police Department will open warming stations for those in need of relief ahead of the cold weather. 

The following locations will provide coffee, hot chocolate, and a warm, safe environment for shelties.

United Way Resiliency Hub, located on 133 N. Bridge Street, in Labelle, and the Clewiston Police Department, located on 300 S. Berner Road.
