Big Carlos Pass Bridge to close intermittently Thursday night as crews set final beams

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

The Big Carlos Pass Bridge will be closed intermittently overnight on Thursday as construction crews set the final bridge beams.

According to the Lee County government, the closures are scheduled to last from 8 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday, with multiple closures expected to last approximately 30 minutes each.

Crews will set the final beams for Span 1, the closest to Estero Island, and officials stated that delays are expected. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes if possible.

The work is part of the county's project to replace the existing drawbridge with a new fixed-span bridge. The Lee County government said that this should improve traffic flow and provide better features for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.
