City of Cape Coral approves construction contract for water main and pump station

CAPE CORAL, Fla. —

The city of Cape Coral announced that it has approved a construction contract on a new 36-inch water main and pump station in Charlotte County, at the site formerly known as Southwest Aggregates mine.

This project, the city says, will transfer excess surface water from an existing 570-acre reservoir. It holds approximately 1.5 billion gallons of stored water, which will help rehydrate the Cape's freshwater canal system.
