Man shot and killed by Lee County deputies in St. James City is identified

SAINT JAMES CITY, Fla. —

The man who was shot and killed by Lee County deputies on Wednesday while responding to a domestic violence call in St. James City has been identified.

Sheriff Carmine Marceno confirmed in a post on X that the man who died is Alex Paul Jordan, 37.

The shooting happened at a home on Crestwell Court. According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, deputies encountered a man who armed himself with a gun when they arrived at the scene.

LCSO said no deputies were injured in the incident.

A Gulf Coast News crew captured footage of a driver going past a deputy who was blocking the entrance to Crestwell Court and yelling, "F--- I'm so God d--- mad right now, you can arrest me."

A man, believed to be the father of the deceased, said, "They God d--- killed my son. Son of a b----"

He also questioned the deputies' actions, stating, "This is bull s--- ... Better hope they have their body camera on."

Per LCSO policy, the deputies involved were placed on administrative leave with pay.
