1 person in custody following large police presence in Bonita Springs

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - Authorities have taken one person into custody after an incident involving a woman barricaded inside a property in Bonita Springs.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office confirmed multiple specialized units responded.

Yellow crime scene tape blocked off Imperial River Road as the Major Crimes Unit and several deputy cruisers remained on the scene.

Witnesses reported hearing gunshots around 3 p.m.

"I heard four shots about it," said Victor Celhar, a witness.

"I wasn't sure it was shots, but then I realized I heard the sirens. And then the siren stopped, and I kind of listened. I can hear the sheriff through the speaker saying, 'Come on, with your hands up' several times, and then it just kind of stopped. I rode my bike over to see what's happening," said Celhar.

"Being from Canada, it's quite a shock to see that," he added.

WINK News was at the scene where deputies from Lee County and Collier County, along with fire rescue and a SWAT mobile command center, were actively working. A helicopter and drone were also deployed.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office stated the investigation remains active and more information is expected to be released Sunday morning.
