3 SWFL GameStops included in mass closure

Video game giant GameStop is closing 470 locations across the country, including three locations here in Southwest Florida.

This comes from their website, which lists these locations as closed.

Local locations closing:

• Fort Myers – Cypress Woods, 9390 6 Mile Cypress Pkwy.
• Fort Myers – Gulf Coast Town Center, 10021 Gulf Center Drive
• Naples – Market Center, 9960 Business Circle

This comes after the company's shares skyrocketed to $120 a share in 2021 after social media investors drove the price up on the shares to save the struggling company.

The stores are expected to close in 2026, but official dates have not been released.

An official statement has not been released regarding the reason for the closures.

As of February 2025, there were 149 locations in Florida.
